Grand Central Station is an intensive academic intervention program which serves as a safety net for at-risk students. Screening tools, prescriptive interventions, proactive instructional strategies, specialized technology, organizational structures, weekly home-to-school connections, and detailed tracking systems are woven together for this intensive learning lab experience for the student.

It is designed to: Reduce the failure rate of academically at-risk students

* Increase student's self-esteem
* Increase school attendance
* Decrease infractions
* Decrease drop out rate
* Students take ownership of their study skills & organizational techniques
* Provides an enriched learning environment
* Provides students with a better understanding of themselves

Level One provides help for the student after class instruction to help prepare for tests, learn difficult concepts, or master assignments using computers. If they are not successful (passing all classes) Level 2 provides a full class period in the Learning Lab where thay can have more time to study and learn study skills and memory strategies. If they continue to fail, then Level 3 requires that they will come to after school so they can be prepared for the next day. If all the interventions fail, the student will be referred for further evaluation.

Students are able to enjoy school again by experiencing success as confident, independent learner.

If you are interested in this program for your student, please call the High School or contact Judy Tolbert.

Bruceville-Eddy High School would like to thank the Waco Foundation for the generous grant of over $19,000.
